A Polymer Clay Tutorial: The Spinner Ring!

Now, this tutorial was published two years ago to the Member’s Classroom and I thought it time to let it out! It’s something I designed years ago and taught in live classes. I do love spinner rings - they’re polymer clay toys, actually! Enjoy! Cheers, D Clay: 2 colors - your choice. Recommend: select a color you like. Take 1/3 and mix with white. Tone on tone is pleasing for this simple design. Black - 2 ounces is more than enough Note: Use a strong clay. Recommend Kato Polyclay for rings because it is more resistant to changes from body heat! Polypaste and brush Business card and pencil Band ring or acrylic ring sizing template Ceramic tile Tool to cut around template - could be a scalpel or a sharp needle Deli paper to draw the simple abstract flower. ball stylus to transfer the design onto the prepared pinwheel flower sheet Deli paper for smoothing (Color Replacement) Circle cutters - one that is the size of the color replacement discs (you choice, mine is approx. 1 1/4”) Small circle cutters for clay washers (mine are 5/8” and 3/16”) the specific size is not very important, just make sure they are smaller than the color replacement flower and disc. Coarse sanding paper (Abranet P 120 or P 180 are what I use) Memory wire and good wire cutters (do not use your jewelry cutters, please!)
