Cancun, Mexico! The starting point of our Mexico itinerary was the resort town of Cancun! Cancun is an expensive Caribbean resort, primarily frequented by Americans. Millions of tourists flock to Mexico for the incredibly beautiful Caribbean Sea, which is especially stunning in Cancun, particularly in the Zona Hoteliera. The Zona Hoteliera is a 20-kilometer-long strip of land lined with luxury hotels. We stayed a 10-minute walk from the Zona Hoteliera, so our accommodations were significantly cheaper. Spoiler alert: we'll also spend the final day of our Mexico trip in Cancun, but not at a previously booked hotel, but at a hotel right in the Zona Hoteliera! And on a budget, too. Tourists visiting Cancun always take the ferry to Isla Mujeres, or the Island of Women. Due to time constraints, we didn't visit Isla Mujeres, but we will definitely visit it and review it on the last day of our Yucatan Peninsula trip.
