Norway Shore Excursions with Holland America Line
Norway Shore Excursions with Holland America Line Nordfjord Nordfjord or Nordfjorden is the sixth longest fjord in Norway. It's located in the northern part of Vestland county, flowing through the municipalities of Stryn, Gloppen, Stad, Bremanger, and Kinn. It is the central feature of the entire Nordfjord region, which makes up the northern third of the county. Nordfjord is 106 km in length from the Atlantic Ocean. Hardangerfjord The Hardangerfjord, located in Vestland county, Western Norway, is the world's fifth-longest and Norway's second-longest fjord, stretching 179 km from the Atlantic to the Hardangervidda plateau. Known as the "Orchard of Norway," the region is famous for fruit blossoms in May, dramatic waterfalls, and iconic hiking spots like Trolltunga Eidfjord Cruise & Voringsfossen Waterfall – Eidfjord, Norway Duration 2 ½ hours Cost $ 189 USD per person The excursion starts from the pier in Eidfjord — a charming village at the head of the fjord built on sand and gravel moraines from the major Ice Age. At the far end of the Upper Eidfjord Lake, you'll stop at the Fossli Hotel to see the famous Vøringfossen Waterfall. A path leads down to a viewing platform offering a stunning view of the waterfall as it cascades down into a deep canyon almost 600 feet below. Return to Eidfjord and continue to Simadalen. Here, you will change from bus to boat for a 45-minute fjord cruise. Jostedal National Park Center & Videseter – Olden, Norway Duration 4 hours Cost $ 149 USD per person This half-day excursion is a wonderful opportunity to see Norway's brilliant scenery up close. The amazing Jostedal National Park features an extensive glacial backdrop and is home to some of the largest ice sheets in Europe. Sit back and enjoy, from the coach, the view of waterfalls, mountains, glaciers and valleys. A drive along the River Stryn brings you to the Jostedal National Park Visitor Center. View the many fascinating exhibits and 3D displays of the glaciers, some of which are more than 1,200 feet deep. You'll visit the historic Videseter Inn, which dates back to 1903. Enjoy a delicious snack of traditional Norwegian cakes accompanied by tea or coffee, while you take in the sweeping views of the Hjelle Valley. Walk to the amazing Buldrefossen Falls, which plummet 240 feet into a deep gorge. Norway's Southernmost Lighthouse – Kristiansand, Norway Duration 5 Hours Cost $ 149 USD per person Built in 1655, Lindesnes is Norway's oldest lighthouse. It lies on the southernmost tip of the Norwegian mainland — 1,564 miles from North Cape. The lighthouse is home to the National Lighthouse Museum and hosts various exhibitions relating to the development and history of lighthouses and Norway's maritime culture. As you arrive at South Cape, the lighthouse host will greet you. South Cape is a beautiful landscape in both sunny and stormy weather. It has a dramatic feeling because the forces of the weather and nature converge here to make for a stunning setting and ever-changing light. Finally, head back towards Kristiansand. This time, the panoramic drive is partially by way of the coastal road flanked by idyllic summerhouses and scenic views typical of southern Norway. The Best of Oslo with Lunch – Oslo, Norway Duration 7 hours Cost $ 284.95 USD per person Drive through the center of Oslo, passing Akershus Fortress, the Parliament Building, Karl Johan Street, the Royal Palace and the Nobel Institute. The amazing Vigeland Sculpture Park was created and completed by one man -- Gustav Vigeland. Centrally placed in the park is the 55-foot-tall monolith, featuring 121 stone figures of men, women and children climbing on top of each other in their struggle for life. Continue through some beautiful residential areas and up to the Holmenkollen Hills for a fantastic view of Oslo. The first ski jump was built here in 1892 and was the main venue of the 1952 Winter Olympics. It was recently rebuilt in time for the World Championships. A buffet lunch is served en route. On the Bygdøy Peninsula, visit the National Museum of Norwegian Maritime History, spanning from the Viking Age to the present. The exhibits include a wide array of maritime topics, such as the technical conventions of sea transport, the life and destiny of sailors at sea, and the interactive experience called Norway is the Sea. Nearby, the Open-Air Folk Museum allows you to 'tour' much of Norway in a compact setting. The museum features 150 authentic buildings from different regions, including one of the country's oldest structures, the Gol Stave Church, built in the 13th century. • Rotterdam Ship Review - Holland America Line #NorwayShoreExcursionswithHollandAmericaLine #NorwaywithHollandAmericaLine #Norway #CruisingNorway #HollandAmericaLine
