Thinking back to the lively atmosphere of the Children’s Day celebration at Pointe Larue, it’s a great time to bring the practice of mindfulness into our common experiences in our school community and promote happiness. The celebration enabled us to focus on the development of joy, happiness and peace. And when we connect with the feeling of joy in our teaching and let it grow, we can access that positive energy whenever we want. We can concentrate on fostering joy, happiness, and peace by being mindful of every student who has been entrusted to us. Our school is not just a mere classroom; rather, it is a HOME where values and discipline are being nurtured. We can use such a celebration as an opportunity to connect with the present moment in the spirit of “mindful movement". When we see students celebrating, we are seeing a natural expression of an "open heart” – a state of being that mindfulness invites us to cultivate every day. We heard the laughter and the joyful singing momentum of our students, where the school grounds transformed into a fun environment. Teachers and staff became teammates and not just taskmasters. The walls of our school felt softer, warmer, more like home. Just as shared by our head teacher, Sir Steve, and by Ms Keryl in her poem during the school assembly, this is our message to every student at Pointe Larue Secondary! "You are SEEN! You are LOVED!
