“To generate ideas, we must use our imagination and creativity.” With the Da Vinci technique, we can generate many alternative solution ideas by creating combinations—that is, associating or connecting parts that are seemingly unrelated. The SCAMPER technique consists of asking what can be substituted, combined, adapted, modified, repurposed, eliminated, or rearranged to improve a product or solve a problem. The 5 Whys technique, also called the Why-Why or Ladder of Whys, is a widely used problem-solving strategy that allows us to find the root cause of a problem.
