In this 2007 oral history interview with Richard Norton Smith, Armitage talks about Senator Dole's personality, humor and governing style, including Dole's 1974 Senate campaign, changes in the Senate, Nancy Kassebaum and other topics. Armitage has served in many governmental sectors including as Assistant Secretary of Defense for President Regan and Deputy Secretary of State under President George W. Bush. He served as Administrative Assistant for Senator Dole (1978-1980). This interview is part of the Dole Institute Oral History Project.
