How I Rig my CataRaft; And a high speed Rebuild of it.

Every year I rig my raft in the spring. Each time I make tweaks as needed. Sometimes I have to refinish the wood bits or rebuild them. This year I decided to stop using Urethane since it is constantly shedding toxins into the water and the larger environment. I’ve opted to try food grad Mineral oil, several coats, just rubbed on. Historically all wood was finished with oil. Overall I’m trying to get away from using chemicals that are doing more harm than good. Another thing I did was my annual application of 303 Protectant. After learning about what all things contain PFAs I’m pretty sure 303 has them. I don’t have an alternative right now so I’m just using it sparingly and trying not to breath it in. The last thing I wanted to do was make a big “soft gear” cargo bay. I don’t have a round boat but I do have kids and need a soft place for them to lounge around in. I only worked on this after work and it took me longer than normal because of my little “helpers.” Hopefully you will see this raft out on the water this year. Thanks for watching.
