Title: Thorn in the Flesh Base Text: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Tags: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, humiliation, suffering, thorn in the flesh, pain, discomfort, apostle Paul, false apostles, transcendental experience, trials, God in control, Job 1, sovereign God, limited devil, creator and creature, shame, divine providence, sin, God's solution, grace, dependence on God, John 1:1, John 1:14. Description: Paul teaches us, through his letter to the Corinthians, about pain and suffering. Being a Christian does not mean that one is exempt from persecution, sadness, humiliation, suffering and struggles. There is no believer who does not have a thorn in the flesh, a constant discomfort or pain, because suffering and humiliation are divine providences, they provide growth and prevent us from committing sins. Paul suffered so that he would remain humble and not become proud. He asked for relief three times and God did not remove the thorn from his flesh, but gave him grace and resources to deal with the pain. God is sovereign and everything is under His control, He will not abandon you!
