I started a new channel... Here's why

I started a new YouTube channel! This space is specifically crafted for adults, especially older adults, learning or relearning the flute. When I started my YouTube channel nearly 10 years ago, I had no idea who would watch my videos. Increasingly, I noticed a very particular group of people started to show up in the comments: older adult learners. Over the past 5 years, I have almost exclusively taught adult learners, many of whom are older. I have made mistakes, learned a great deal and discovered the joys and challenges of learning at this stage in life. I have heard stories of hope, of frustration, of hurt and of the immense impact that music has had on these students. However, another picture started to consistently emerge. Although the majority of learners were exactly this group of older adult learners, many felt as if they were somehow trespassing. Students who felt they were taking up a space for a ‘real student’ or who were apologetic about asking for my help or for lessons because they felt they were just an amateur adult student who didn’t want to take up the space. And with this in mind, we decided it was time to create a second YouTube channel. I no longer want adult flute students to feel like they need to hide because they ‘don’t really belong here’. I want to stand as a beacon to adult students everywhere, letting them know: this IS for you! We have called this channel Taking your time with Tatiana, because we are going to be taking time in so many ways. We give you permission to take the time too. Not just for practice but also for progress. Take the experience a step further and join our online community to boost your practice. Connect with other adults learning the flute, get access to additional content and fun challenges and discover the world of learning the flute later in life! https://theflutepractice.com/
