Montgomery is the capital of Alabama as well as the county seat of Montgomery County. Located 90 miles south of Birmingham via I-65, Montgomery is the fourth largest city in the state of Alabama (behind Huntsville, Mobile, and Birmingham) with a population of 200,603 residents in 2020. Most notably, the city was a huge focal point for events centered around the Civil Rights Movement in the mid-20th century.
