About 2 and a half years ago, the member for Samarai Murua Isi Henry Leonard raised concerns on the standard of housing that were then being constructed for the Woodlark landowners by Australian company GeoPacific Resources Ltd, the company responsible for developing the Woodlark Gold project, this is part of the companies relocation program from the Kulumadau village in order to mine resources found in the ground below the village to a new area in order for mining to begin.
