At TEDxTwenteU, Giels talks about his passion/dream and how he managed to disrupt a very conservative market. He will share some anecdotes on his startup-journey and how it all came together when he and co-founder Anatoliy watched a match of the Dutch national team at the European Championships in Ukraine. Giels Brouwer is a football addict and came straight out of college when he founded his own company SciSports with two of his friends. He noticed that an incredible amount of money was wasted on player transfers at professional soccer clubs because their decisions were not supported by objective facts. With his company, he introduced big data to the world of soccer scouting. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
