Why Twenty Minutes Twice a Day Can Reset Your Entire Nervous System | Your Soul Wisdom | Ep 196

In this episode Nic explains what Vedic meditation actually is and how it differs from the concentration and chanting based practices most people have tried and struggled with. She walks through the extraordinary history of the practice, from ancient India through centuries of hiding and protection to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi bringing it to the West in the 1960s, where the Beatles famously learned it. She explains why the practice is twenty minutes twice a day and not a moment longer, what the bija mantra actually is and why it has no fixed meaning, and the color fasting metaphor she uses to describe what the practice does over time. In traditional Indian dyeing, cloth is dipped in color, hung in the sun to fade, then dipped again and faded again, over and over, until the color finally stops fading and holds for good. Nic compares this to the nervous system being dipped into deep rest twice a day until calm becomes the body's permanent resting state rather than something that wears off. Nic also shares her own story honestly and in full, the decade of setbacks, severe hormonal illness, the loss of a quarter billion dollar business, and the second collapse that finally broke her open enough to find this practice.
