Unfortunately, this growth is not matched by the country's ability to meet domestic food needs. Currently, Indonesia's strategic food production is unable to meet domestic demand. However, demand for various key food commodities is increasing, including the anticipated 40-50 million tons of rice by 2050. Recognizing this, the Joko Widodo government created the food estate program, also known as the food barn. This national strategic program is a government policy that emphasizes integrated food development. Unfortunately, the program has encountered several challenges, even leading to crop failures and stalling. So, is this program still viable under the Prabowo-Gibran administration?
