The best interior layout for a small campervan? We’ve fitted a U shape lounge and bed system to this VW T6 We believe it’s one of the best if not the best interior to get the maximum use of space to convert any small T5/T6 sized van into a day van or camper van. We’ve fitted this set up in a number of different vehicles from Volkswagen T5 to Vauxhall Vivaro and Ford Transit. In this particular interior we’ve modified the rear unit and replaced the open style cupboard with a drawer which can be used to house a cooker or grill. In this case we have chosen a Cadac Pro twin burner grill. With the added extension of another table you’ve also got lots of extra worktop space for either food prep or using a portable sink. This is a non seat belted system and can not be used as travelling seats while driving, so the van is ideally suited to couples who enjoy an open space design and don’t want to compromise on storage space. Under the seat/bed are large cupboards to store a variety of camping equipment. An Oak roof with matching side panel compliments the solid oak worktop and table. Using the Oak creates a lovely warm environment and we use osmo oil to protect and finish the wood. This is food safe and offers long lasting protection and a great finish. A solar panel keeps the batteries topped up and enables the separate 12v leisure system to power lighting, USB charging and a 12v to 240v inverter to power a variety of items without compromising your van battery. Up front we’ve swapped out the standard double passenger seat to a single captains seat with lumbar support and twin armrests. A super comfortable and easy to use camper van which can be used everyday.
