The regimental colors and the selected recruits step forward. The commanding officer recites the oath of allegiance. The recruits pledge or swear to bravely defend the rights and freedoms of the German people. This is followed by a handshake between the commanding officer and the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces, Dr. Eva Högl, with the recruits. The national anthem is then played.
