A Sad END to the GOLDEN Imported EMD's | WDG4 | Indian Railways

Enjoy watching the yellow Golden Ochre EMD's imported from General Motors EMD, USA. These 4000 HP locomotives brought the EMD evolution to Indian Railways and their 2 decade long rule and legacy comes to a cruel end. The first 21 WDG4s Road numbers 12001 to 12021 were imported as built and few as kits and assembled at DLW Varanasi. As Indian Railways is targeting for 100% electrification, they are now converting EMD's into electrics to cut down the use of Diesel locomotives. Two WDG-4 (diesel) locomotives of 4000 HP have been combined and converted into one 12,000 HP WAG-11 electric engine units.
