Austria will be represented at Eurovision 2025 by Johannes Pietsch, known under the pseudonym JJ, with the song Wasted Love. After its release, the track quickly rose in the list of favorites of the contest, and many believe that it is JJ who can bring Austria another victory. Johannes has an interesting biography: he was born in Vienna to a family of Austrian-Filipino roots, spent part of his life in Dubai, but returned to Austria in 2016. In 2020, he took part in the British show The Voice UK and reached the knockout stage, and in 2021 he became a finalist in the popular Austrian talent show Starmania. His vocals are a separate topic for discussion, as he studied at the opera school of the Vienna State Opera, which significantly influenced his sound and style of performance. The song Wasted Love is an emotional and powerful story about the pain of unrequited love. It begins with a lyrical and intimate intro, but gradually develops into an explosive chorus with a modern electronic sound. The video clip, which has already garnered many views, depicts JJ in a forest - this image symbolizes loneliness and inner struggle. It is worth noting that Johannes was chosen to represent Austria through an internal selection by broadcaster ORF, beating six other finalists. His style is an interesting combination of operatic vocals and pop music, which will definitely not leave indifferent both the audience and the jury of Eurovision 2025.
