Today's video takes place around the Belgian coast, particularly in the seaside resort of De Haan. The walk starts at the beautiful old tram station of "De Haan Aan Zee", built in 1902. De Haan is considered a unique coastal city, not only is high-rise of more than five floors prohibited, it is also the home to the historic residential villa area "The Concession", which has easily withstood the test of time. Villa complexes were built during the Belle Époque period (1871-1914). Considered the Golden Age of continental Europe in the fields of art, literature, music and theatre. A prosperous period that unfortunately ended abruptly with the disastrous events of WW1. The residential villa area is listed in the top 50 most beautiful villages in Flanders, Belgium. The area takes you through winding streets, naturally sloping terrain with picturesque villas. It briefly became Albert Einstein's last stay on European soil before emigrating to the US for good. A statue of the famous Albert Einstein was also created to commemorate the time he spent here. Seaside resort De Haan is not really a city that targets one-day tourists, many tourists own a property here. The beach and dunes in De Haan are often quieter and less crowded compared to other Belgian coastal towns. However, De Haan has the longest beach at over 12 kilometers and is home to the only nudist beach on the coast. Thanks for watching, i hope it was interesting information.
