Parque Lezama - Todos Estamos Conectados

Lezama Park is one of the many traditional parks in the City of Buenos Aires, located in the San Telmo neighborhood, and home to the National Historical Museum. Some historians believe that the city was first founded here by Pedro de Mendoza in 1536. The land belonged to various owners until 1857, when it was purchased by Gregorio Lezama, a landowner from Salta, who imported exotic trees and plants and hired European landscape designers to create one of the most luxurious private gardens of the time. His widow, Ángela Álzaga, sold the land to the city in 1894 on the condition that it be transformed into a public park named after her husband. Nearby, on Defensa Street, is the National Historical Museum, which was the mansion where Lezama lived in the 19th century. Across from the park stands the Russian Orthodox Church (Brasil 315), recognizable by its Moscow style and blue domes, a work by architect Alejandro Christophersen.
