The Neighbourhood They Forgot to Tell You About — Jamestown, Accra Ghana 2026 (Part 1)

They built a lighthouse here before they built a country. Jamestown is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Accra — a fishing community, a colonial outpost, a site of resistance, and one of the most historically dense places I have ever walked through. It sits at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and it carries the weight of everything Ghana has been, survived, and become. In Part 1, I walk through Jamestown with no script and no agenda — just curiosity, a camera, and the knowledge that the streets I'm walking on have stories that most of the world has never heard. We start at the Jamestown Lighthouse, built during colonial rule, standing over a neighbourhood that has outlasted every empire that tried to claim it. This is the Ghana they don't put in the tourism brochures. This is the Accra that was here before the high-rises and the diaspora return movement and the Year of Return campaigns. This is the foundation.
