AREA of a Trapezium : Very EASY To Prove #maths #gcse #trapezoid #trapezium

In This video I show how to prove that the area of ANY type of Trapezoid can be given by the formula 1/2(a + b)h . I prove the formula can be used for four variations of the trapezoid. And show that the formula can also be used to find the area of a parallelogram. Below is a Wikipedia page explaining what a trapezoid is and where you can find a discussion about whether parallelograms can be considered trapeziums/trapezoids or not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trapezoid Chapters: 0:00 what's in this video 0:39 deriving the formula for a right angled trapezium, then 1:59 Isosceles Trapezium 2:20 Acute Trapezium 2:35 Obtuse Trapezium 2:52 Mystery shape (Wikipedia definitions) 3:54 proving the formula finds the area for the mystery shape.
