When hammers are worn they strike too large an area of the string, meaning that the higher partials or harmonics don't sound at all. In this case around note 50 about 1cm of the felt is hitting the string and so the tone, although sweet and mellow, is not nearly as rich and distinct as it should be. It's important to replace with hammers of the correct weight so that the touch can be refined correctly.
