Days, weeks, even months can pass without a single drop falling from the sky. For the people who live here — in scattered towns, remote farms, and small settlements — every drop of water is precious. But they’re not the only ones who call this land home. This unforgiving landscape is also inhabited by incredible desert-adapted wildlife — including the iconic desert-adapted elephants. These giants have evolved to survive in the arid heat, but their search for water often brings them dangerously close to human settlements. When that happens, the consequences can be severe — for both people and elephants. In this episode, I join Elephant Human Relations Aid (‪@EHRANamibia‬ ) for the first week of their volunteer program. This incredible organization is focused on long-term solutions to reduce human-elephant conflict. And this week, we’re getting hands-on — building a waterpoint protection wall to help safeguard vital resources and create peaceful coexistence between communities and elephants.
