Dzień 4: Tajemnica skradzionego obrazu i Twierdza Brześć🌳 Green Velo druga runda (Białystok-Zamość)

Welcome to the next episode of my Green Velo trail journey! Today is actually "day 3.5" – after yesterday's struggles and a 147 km ride, I had to slightly modify my plans to have enough energy for the remaining kilometers. This time, we have 74 km ahead of us, full of history, spirituality, and... unexpected technical challenges. We begin by exploring elements of the Brest Fortress – visiting, among others, the gunpowder magazines in Kobylany and Terespol, learning about the turbulent history of these Russian fortifications. The route then leads us to Kostomłoty, home to a unique Neo-Uniate parish of the Byzantine-Slavic rite. The next important point is the Sanctuary in Kodeń – Częstochowa in Podlasie, which is connected to the incredible story of Mikołaj Sapiecha's theft of the image of the Virgin Mary from Rome. However, it wasn't without its adventures. The excess luggage after shopping and lunch caused another spoke to snap on the route. You'll see what it's like to struggle to find a repair shop in Włodawa after 4:00 PM, and how the treasures found in the repair kit at my agritourism farm in Szuminka came to the rescue.
