Did we make it? Chasing 34028 'Eddystone' on The Royal Duchy - 2026

With the 34028 coming down here for a second time this year made it worthy of a chase! 34028 and 47848 came from the WCRC depot in Southall and was towed by 47848 there. Starting in Whiteball, 34028 was putting some hard work whilst 47848 was doing the majority. Jot to Dean Hill Road was afterwards and it did not disappoint! With the spot located just outside of Tiverton Loop meant a chase was possible and power was lead by 34028 out of the loop and onto Exeter St David's. Afterwards, a drive to Rattery where 47848 doing most of the work again which was expected as they were issued to have mainly diesel assistance. The longest drive down was towards Lostwithiel, where coincidentally, the Britannic Explorer arrived from Fowey Carne Point which was not included. Eddystone provided a spectacular whistle through Lostwithiel which really hit the spot! The final shot of the day was at Hemerdon. Having been there before myself, we arrived early to get a good spot, my friend who came with me suggested Menheniot but we ditched it because of the risk of it being busy once we arrived at Hemerdon. What a day and what a run!
