My Playlist Was Keeping Me From Jesus 😬 (The Truth About Secular Music)

I didn’t stop listening to secular music because someone told me to—I stopped because God showed me what it was doing to my heart. Can Christians listen to secular music? That's a question many believers wrestle with. In this video, I don't just answer it—I share how God revealed what my playlist was producing in my heart and why I ultimately chose to let it go. For years, my playlist shaped my thoughts and desires without me realizing it. I told myself, "It's just music," but the fruit said otherwise. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." — Proverbs 4:23 This isn't about rules or legalism—it's about what is shaping you. Music isn't neutral. It disciples your thoughts, your emotions, and your desires. What you consistently listen to will eventually influence how you think, what you crave, and what you normalize. When I changed what I listened to, I noticed a shift in my thoughts, my desires, and my closeness with Jesus. God began to show me that what I was feeding my mind was affecting my spirit. The more I filled my heart with things that didn't reflect Him, the harder it became to hear His voice clearly and desire Him deeply. If you've ever wondered whether your music is helping or hindering your walk with Christ, I encourage you to ask God to reveal it to you. He's faithful to show us what draws us closer to Him—and what quietly pulls us away. Because it's never just about what you're listening to. It's about who you're becoming. 🤍 If this encouraged you, I'd love for you to subscribe and join me as we pursue Jesus together.
