Mengapa Suku Dayak Bakumpai 100 % Beragama Islam ?

Why are the Bakumpai Dayak people 100% Muslim? The Bakumpai ethnic group, also known as the Bakumpai Dayak, is part of the Ngaju Dayak sub-ethnic group and adheres to Islam. The majority of the Bakumpai live along the Barito River in South and Central Kalimantan. The largest population is found in Marabahan City, the capital of Barito Kuala Regency, and in Muara Teweh, as well as in Puruk Cahu and Murung Raya in Central Kalimantan. The Bakumpai people identify as devout Muslims who adhere to the teachings of Islam. However, the question remains: were the Bakumpai people really earlier than the Banjar people? To uncover this fact, the Bakumpai Family Association (KKB) held an Islamic study at the Central KKB Secretariat on Jalan Perdagangan, HKSN Permai Complex, Banjarmasin, on January 19, 2019. According to Nasrullah, a Bakumpai Dayak historian and lecturer in sociology and anthropology at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Lambung Mangkurat University, the Bakumpai people embraced Islam before the Banjar people. This is supported by the fact that the Bakumpai people once inhabited the area around the mouth of the Nagara River, now located in Marabahan. They were the first to embrace Islam, according to him. During the era of the Negara Daha Kingdom, which existed from 1478 to 1526, according to historical documents, Marabahan was an international trading port. As a port, it naturally served as a meeting point for traders from various countries and regions who interacted with the local population. The most valid theory states that Islam entered the archipelago through trade routes. Based on this theory, Nasrullah believes that Islamic teachings actually entered Bakumpai society first, due to interactions with Muslim traders, especially from the Arabian peninsula. "This theory was also put forward by FKIP historian Yuslian Noor, who concluded that through trade routes, the Bakumpai people were first exposed to Islam in the 14th to 19th centuries AD. He also cited historical records such as the Hikayat Banjar and other sources that mention that Sunan Bonang and Sunan Giri traded in Muara Bahan, leading to the spread of Islam in the capital of the Negara Daha Kingdom at that time. At that time, there was a Bakumpai figure named Khatib Banun who studied Islam in the Demak Kingdom. Upon his return from Java in the 14th century, Khatib Banun helped spread Islam to the interior of Kalimantan, especially the Bakumpai people. According to Inas, Khatib Banun's route of spreading Islam began from Muara Bahan, entering the interior of the Barito River in Central Kalimantan, and then to the Hulu Sungai area in South Kalimantan. Inas also argued that many historians note that the era of Khatib Banun was the first generation of the Bakumpa ethnic group to embrace and practice Islam. When Khatib Banun's era ended, another great scholar emerged from the Bakumpai lands, namely Sheikh H. Abdussamad, the grandson of Sheikh Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari, taught Islam throughout the Barito River Basin. "Sheikh H. Abdussamad also taught the Naqshbandiyah and Syaziliyah orders to the Bakumpai community," he said. However, the unique thing about the Bakumpai people, despite embracing Islam, is that they haven't completely abandoned their tribal identity. For example, some Dayaks in West Kalimantan converted to Malay after converting to Islam. Unlike the Bakumpai, the Bakumpai ethnic group bridges the gap between non-Muslim Dayaks and the Muslim community in Kalimantan. Culturally, Nasrullah explained that the Bakumpai people, despite embracing Islam, still maintain ancestral rituals, especially those for healing, such as Badewa and Batatenga. This concludes this information. We hope it's helpful. Thank you, see you later, and best regards.
