Between Meadow and Ice The vegetation zones of the Swiss mountains change with altitude: from the mild valley floor through blooming alpine meadows up to the icy summit regions. Each zone has its own plants, animals, and living conditions, which together shape the mountain landscape. The different altitude zones are not only distinct scenic areas but also dynamic habitats. In the installation “Between Meadow and Ice,” you can experience this alpine elevation profile from a new perspective. The topographic map rotates 360°. The three-dimensional contour lines are right in front of you, and the bird’s-eye view of them lies beneath your feet.
