High Pitched Federal Signal 2001-130 Siren Test | Alert | Miamisburg, OH | 6/7/21

Located near a church at 401 Carlwood Drive, this siren replaced an ACA Screamer S-10 around 2011 as part of EMA's push to get more battery-backup capable sirens installed in Montgomery County. Sirens in Montgomery County are tested on the First Monday of each month at noon, provided there are no thunderstorms in the area at the time of testing. Went to Miamisburg yesterday to record a siren on the Regional Dispatch system as I wasn't sure if Englewood would test due to the potentially treacherous weather conditions (that turned out not to be, go figure). I wasn't expecting this siren to be so high-pitched; it does fluctuate a little in the video, and while it may seem like it in the beginning, the high pitch is due to the rectifier, not the wind. And yes, those are Brood X Cicadas you are hearing in the background; they were everywhere yesterday and quite a few landed on me during the time I was there. This siren was powerful and punchy enough to effect the image stabilization on my camera; and you can see the horn rippling from the sound waves at times, which I thought was pretty neat. Overall, I was glad to not get rained on during this test.
