The Tiago JTP had several positive aspects that made it appealing to certain customers. It had pretty good performance, nicer suspension, it offered great value for money and it had a sporty interior, yet it failed to make a dent in the Indian performance hatch market. Tata Motors announced their joint venture with Jayem Auto in March 2017. Exactly 3 years after the announcement, their joint venture came to an end on 4th March 2020. Tata claimed it was that because of the pandemic the sales figures didn’t justify continuing the production of the JTP vehicles, but what is the real reason that the Tiago didn’t manage to compete with the established kings of the segment?
