Justin Gurney, son of racing legend Dan Gurney, invited Tom to receive and unveil his father's long-lost 1961 409ci Chevy Impala. Dan raced this car only once before selling it out of frustration. The racing authorities (FIA) refused to allow him to compete against a class of British saloon cars, claiming, "It didn't meet regulations," even though it was built perfectly to the rules.
