The Newport Dock Disaster
http://www.newportpast.com/md/dock_di... An account of the tragic accident that occurred at Newport Docks on 2nd July 1909 resulting in the death of an estimated 38 workmen. There were many heroes that day among the rescuers... one in particular caught the public's attention - Tom Toya Lewis, a newspaper boy whose father was a stevedore on the docks. This short but detailed film draws on original documents and includes unique photos supplied by Associated British Ports, Newport, as well ones from private collections.
