The name of Syaikh Abdus Samad Al-Falimbani among Muslims in the Arab and Middle East is highly respected and respected. In historical data at the Al-Haram Mosque, Mecca, the name of Sheikh Abdus Samad Al-Falimbani is recorded as one of the scholars from the archipelago who received the honor of being the grand imam of the Al-Haram Mosque His full name is believed to be Abdus Shamad bin Abdul Jalil Al-Jawi Al-Palimbani. However, Arab sources call him Sayyid Abdus Shamad bin Abdurrahman Al-Jawi. According to the Kedah State Genealogy, Sheikh Abdus Shamad was born around 1116 AH / 1704. His father was Abdul Jalil bin Abdul Wahab bin Ahmad Al-Madani, a Sufi scholar in San'a (Yemen) and once served as the grand mufti in the Kingdom of Kedah, but then married a Palembang woman, Raden Ranti. Before that, Abdus Shamad's father had traveled to India and Java, then settled in Palembang and married Raden Ranti who was the sister of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I. Then based on another source, namely his manaqib entitled Faydh Al-Ihsani, Sheikh Abdus Shamad was born in Palembang in 1150 AH or 1737 AD. His father was named Abdur Rahman. Abdur Rahman was the son of Sheikh Abdul Jalil bin Abdul Wahab bin Ahmad Al-Mahdali, the mufti of the Sultanate of Keddah. Abdur Rahman's mother was named Raden Ranti, the daughter of Prince Purbaya, who was none other than the eldest son of Muhammad Mansur, the Sultan of Palembang. Thus, from his grandmother's line, Sheikh Abdus Shamad was part of the main relatives of the Palembang Palace whose lineage was directly connected to the Sultan.
