Improve Your Compositions with Principles Used by the Great Masters In this video, we will explore composition and design. We might see something visually inspiring and jump into painting it just as it is. The great masters, however, didn’t only use intuition when composing masterpieces, they supported their creative ideas with proven analytical techniques. In this video, we will explore these analytical tools or the principles of design. These principles include shape/proportion, balance/harmony, arrangement, the path of the viewer's eye, negative space, rhythm, repetition, perspective, color, contrast, and illumination. We will explore these principles through a demonstration. We will use three source photos of Phalaenopsis orchids, borrowing elements from each, to create an engaging composition.
