BRUTTE NOTIZIE PER IL NUOVO CARRO ARMATO ITALIANO ?

Are there any problems ahead for the new Italian main battle tank? Recent statements by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto have sparked debate over the future of the new MBT intended to replace the Ariete. Italy is pursuing a broad modernization program for its Army, necessary to face increasingly complex threats. Today, armored vehicles must protect not only from mines, IEDs, and anti-tank missiles, but also from FPV drones, looping munitions, and swarm attacks. This requires APS systems, advanced sensors, electronic warfare, and new munitions dedicated to close-in defense. The project is a collaboration between Leonardo and Rheinmetall, united in the LRMV joint venture. The goal is to develop new combat vehicles, including the Lynx for infantry and a new main battle tank using Italian and German technology. The demonstrator presented at Eurosatory, however, represents only one possible configuration. Many elements, including propulsion, definitive armament, and the level of Italianization, remain to be clarified. Crosetto's words seem to point primarily to cost negotiations, not to program cuts. The minister aims to reduce overall spending and increase Italian industrial contributions. The question is whether the savings will come from improved negotiation or from a reduction in resources, capacity, and performance. RID, through Director Pietro Batacchi, has also reported delays in signing contracts and possible reschedulings related to the availability of funds. It would be premature to call it a failure, but ignoring the signs would be naive. The real answer will come with the contracts: quantities ordered, economic value, technical configuration, delivery times, and Italian production share. Only then will we understand whether the new MBT will remain an ambitious program or risk becoming another Ariete case. For now, caution is needed: no cancellations have been announced, but the timetable and financial sustainability remain elements that must be monitored closely. #ItalianArmy #ItalianDefense #NewMBT #Tank #Ariete #Leonardo #Rheinmetall #LRMV #Eurosatory #GuidoCrosetto #RID #DefenseIndustry #ArmedForces #MilitaryTechnology #Lynx #APS #FPVDrones #ElectronicWarfare #MilitaryModernization #MadeInItaly #EuropeanDefense #GensItalia
