26-02: We Broke the Arkto. Lessons Learned.

In Part 2 of our Mendocino National Forest adventure, things don’t exactly go as planned… After giving our son Jack a crash course in towing our Arkto camper, we hit the trail—and immediately run into trouble. From bottoming out and breaking our Ark XO stabilizer to struggling with steep terrain and tight rock clearances, this episode is full of real-world lessons in off-road trailer towing. We break down what went wrong, including how our drop hitch setup reduced clearance, and what we’ll do differently next time when taking the Arkto off-road. Eventually, we pivot, find a new campsite near Lake Pillsbury, and settle in… but not before discovering another major issue—we’re completely out of propane 😬 This one has it all: Off-road towing challenges Trailer damage and problem-solving Real camping setbacks (warts and all) Family adventure moments Lessons learned the hard way If you're into overlanding, off-road trailers, or camping with a travel trailer, this episode is packed with real experience you can learn from. 👉 Subscribe for more Arkto camper adventures, Airstream trips, and off-road camping!
