Solo Canoe Camping for 5 Nights

I set off on a 5-night canoe camping trip down the Lower Glenelg River in Victoria, Australia, hoping for a peaceful escape into the bush. Instead, the trip quickly turned into something a bit more unpredictable. What began as a relaxing solo paddling adventure soon had me battling headwinds, paddling against the flow, listening to strange noises in the dark, and improvising when campsite plans didn’t go the way I expected. One night I had a riverside camp all to myself with a campfire under the stars. Another day, I arrived at a “canoe only” campsite to find unexpected company already there… and had to decide whether to stay or move on. Over five days on the river, this trip gave me a bit of everything: solo camping, quiet bush camps, beautiful paddling, glassy reflections, eerie nighttime sounds, campfire moments, and a few reminders that things don’t always go to plan out in the wild. If you enjoy canoe camping, solo adventures, Australian bush scenery, and honest outdoor travel stories, this one’s for you. This video follows the first part and the end of the trip — including the tougher start, campsite drama, and some of the best moments on the river. The middle section of the journey became its own separate video, which will be coming next week #CanoeCamping #SoloCamping #Australia
