Snow in New Orleans feels wrong, like a drunk uncle at a funeral. The streets went quiet. But inside the studio, though, it was business as usual. They worked like the weather was just another rumor. When the cabin fever set in, they’d step outside and let the cold hit them in the face. Grown men acting like kids and laughing at the absurdity of it all. Then back to work. Tape rolling. Voices a little rougher from the chill. There was something about that storm that tightened the songs up, made them feel lived in. New Orleans can throw a lot at you, but it’s never been good at slowing anybody down. Not this band, anyway.
