Fort Mutzig is a behemoth of concrete and steel sprawling across 254 hectares. This German fortification, built before the First World War, could house 7,000 soldiers! A veritable city just 25 km from Strasbourg. The fort's association offers tours of only 10% of the site, which gives you an idea of the sheer scale the Emperor intended to create here.
