Understanding Common Types of Learning Disabilities

Truly understanding common types of learning disabilities, is what makes special education teachers so successful at working with those with learning disabilities. One has to have a good understanding of what it means to have learning disabilities. We often talk about learning disabilities as if they were learning problems. It has become a generic term, but the truth is its a Specific Learning Disabilities and two different people could have learning disabilities and yet have very different learning challenges. That is because there are several different learning disabilities (I like to say learning disabilities) that full under the umbrella of what a specific learning disability really is. It is my hope, whether you are a teacher, parent or an administrator, that you take the time to bush up on your understanding the different types of disabilities, specific learning disabilities,- that is.
