Whiteboard Talks: Importance of the Ankle for Proper Movement
Ankle mobility is extremely important for movement literacy. The FMS and SFMA have redundancy built into the system to help us highlight issues in certain regions - one of which is the ankle. Why is the ankle so important? Let’s think about a common goal in fitness - hip extension or “activating the glutes.” If the ankle is restricted, it does not send a signal that we need hip extension! We cannot neglect how they work together. Addressing ankle function will allow more success in our fitness goals. In this Whiteboard Talk, FMS Co-Founder Gray Cook breaks down the importance of ankle mobility and its influence on our movement patterns.
