Legal Aid Funding Senate Budget Committee Testimony - April 16, 2026

ICLS Executive Director Tessie Solorzano presented about the importance of legal aid and ICLS services to the California Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee on Corrections, Public Safety, Judiciary, Labor and Transportation — alongside Legal Aid Association of California Director of Advocacy Lorin Kline, Superior Court of Los Angeles County Presiding Judge Sergio Tapia II, Community Legal Aid SoCal Executive Director Kate Marr, and Immigrant Legal Defense Attorney Siobhan Waldron. Legal aid depends on support from federal, state, and local grants to provide holistic civil legal assistance to those in need in our communities. With that funding, we are working toward a future where justice does not depend on a person's ability to pay.
