The Beater Bomb's Transmission Exploded

Fresh off our second win in a row, we unloaded the Beater Bomb for a quick inspection of the transmission, knowing it had some bad noises. The first clue appeared when we removed the belly pan and found broken bolts along with several that had completely backed out. That was enough evidence to pull the transmission and take it straight to Chad's shop for a full teardown. What we found inside wasn't good. A damaged gear set had failed, and while we were in there, we decided not to take any chances. New parts were ordered immediately, including a replacement valve body after finding a few signs that it may have contributed to the failure. The last thing we wanted was to put everything back together only to break it again. With race day rapidly approaching, Chad worked through the week to get the transmission repaired and ready. By Thursday, just one day before loading up for the next event, it was time to put everything back in the car. Unfortunately, the thrash wasn't over. After firing the car up and checking operation, the transbrake wasn't functioning correctly. What should have been a simple verification turned into hours of troubleshooting late into the night. Eventually, the culprit was found hiding in plain sight inside the wiring, and after a quick repair everything finally started working as it should.
