Canary Wharf Is Reinventing Itself

Today I'm showing you Eden Dock - the results of the Eden Project's stunning partnership with Canary Wharf. They've transformed this once quite sterile, underused dock into a vibrant space for humans, fish, plants, and urban wildlife to enjoy. They've created a series of islands and underwater habitats in the water which attract birds and other wildlife, and created a new boardwalk to enable people to get closer to the water and take it all in. It provides a blueprint for how other cities could transform their own waterfront spaces to encourage wildlife into our cities. But Canary Wharf has also been through a significant wider transformation in recent years. One which has seen it emerge from being a mono-cultural, office-centric district that was left desolate outside of work hours, to a thriving mixed-use hub that is busy even on weekends. A load of new homes have been built, there's a calendar of 200 annual events which keep the area busy at all times and create a more resilient economy for the area. Eden Dock is just the latest part of this transformation.
