Como funciona o comércio internacional
🌎 Learn International Politics with me: https://www.cursocacd.com/cursos Trade between different countries, peoples, and civilizations is an age-old practice. Throughout history, merchant peoples developed important trading posts, especially in port regions. The inventions of the steamship and the locomotive allowed trade to expand to new regions and sped up transportation. From the 20th century onwards, the construction of standardized steel containers allowed for the expansion of cargo transport in different modes – such as trucks, ships, and trains. Internationally, the advocacy for trade liberalization from the 1940s onwards initially led to the signing of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1947. The GATT brought together dozens of countries interested in standardizing rules and negotiating the expansion of world trade. After nearly five decades of negotiations under the GATT, the World Trade Organization (WTO) was created, an international organization focused on three central objectives: 1️⃣ expanding trade, creating jobs and improving living standards, with a special focus on developing countries; 2️⃣ fostering trade negotiations and promoting a system of trade rules; 3️⃣ enabling the settlement of trade disputes among its members.
