Sugimoto, who is pursuing the gold, and Asirpa, who wants to avenge her father, join forces. Also aiming for the gold is Lieutenant Tsurumi Atsushirou of the Imperial Japanese Army's 7th Division. For the sake of the division members who risked their lives in the Russo-Japanese War but were not rewarded, Lieutenant Tsurumi Atsushirou is plotting to conquer Hokkaido, and needs the gold as military funds. Another escapee is Hijikata Toshizo, the Shinsengumi's "Demon Vice-Commander," who was thought to have died in the Boshin War. He has joined up with his former ally, Nagakura Shinpachi, and is pursuing the gold to realize his own ambitions.
