1974: Fan tribute to LEWIS CARROLL'S SNARK | Weird and Wonderful | Nationwide | BBC Archive
Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of The Snark, second only to Jabberwocky in the famous nonsense poems by Lewis Carroll stakes, was immortalised a century on from its creation by dedicated members of The Snark Club. The members visited his former home The Chestnuts and other scenic places within Guildford, and paid tribute as characters within the poem - notably a bellman, barrister, butcher, boot, banker, beaver and a maker of bonnets. Clip taken from Nationwide, originally broadcast on BBC One, Tuesday 22 July, 1974.
