From Image of God to Sinner at Birth: The Shocking Identity Theft

In today’s message, we continue to look at the believer’s new identity in Christ. We look at the creation of man and how when he was created in the likeness and image of God, his identity was bound up in that image and likeness. Man had no identity crisis, but when man fell in the Garden the image and likeness of God was marred and tarnished and man’s identity became that of a sinner and not a saint, or a holy one of God. Worse yet, Adam passed that sin nature down to all humanity and we are all born sinners even before we ever sin. However, when a person accepts Jesus as Lord, their identity goes from being that of a sinner to that of a saint, or holy one. They become a new creature in Christ, get a new nature, a new heart, a new spirit, and are seen in Gods eyes as Holy. God offers every person a chance to go from being a sinner to a saint simply by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
