The word 'Pandanggo' is derived from the Spanish term 'fandango', which was a lively Spanish folk dance. However, the Filipino version incorporates indigenous elements, making it a distinct and unique art form. This particular pandanggo requires the skill of balancing three lit oil lamps or tinghoy, one on each head and one on the palm. It is characterized by fast steps and rhythmic clicks that change in 3/4 time. The light of the lamps is said to represent the fireflies that fly in the night. It is set to music by Antonio Buenaventura with lyrics by Levi Celerio. Thank you for watching! Don't forget to subscribe!
